Who to Root For: 2/28

RPI sits only 2 points back of Harvard and a top 4 spot heading into the last weekend

The Engineers’s huge weekend sweep not only clinched home ice, but St. Lawrence’s upset of Harvard also ensured that RPI now controls its own destiny for a first round bye. However, a sweep on the road is very difficult, so we still have to pay attention to the other ECAC games on Friday night. We are only going to look at the games that affect RPI (St. Lawrence at Cornell and Clarkson at Colgate have no impact on RPI’s positioning in the standings).

Yale at Princeton
Yale is 3 points behind RPI and owns the tiebreaker due to their sweep of the season series. RPI can clinch their spot over Yale with just one win on the weekend, but until that officially happens, root for Yale to lose.

Go Tigers!

Brown at Quinnipiac
Quinnipiac is 3 points ahead of RPI and can clinch their spot over the Engineers with one more win. While it is unlikely RPI will be able to catch up, we will still root for that scenario.

Go Bruno!

Union at Dartmouth
Dartmouth is in the same position as Yale except RPI currently holds the tiebreaker (with a game left between them on Saturday). With a Dartmouth loss or RPI win, the Engineers can clinch their spot over the Big Green.

As you can probably see, these 3 games are not particularly important to RPI unless the Engineers get swept this weekend. Hopefully, that does not happen, and these games will not end up mattering in the end.
